Rugby.. one of life's passions
"Rugby is a game for gentlemen played by gentlemen"
Rugby has always been a huge part of my life and I am very proud to be a Welshman, my passion for this game will never leave me. I started by playing for New Tredegar Youth in the late 60's where I started playing on the wing and then moved to a prop. When my playing days were over I continued my support and tried my hand at coach, first aider and always supporter.
I have also always supported my country Wales. Many a happy times have been spent with close friends especially Deon and Glen on international tours and local games, throughout this sport I have made many friends and enjoyed many occasions which will never be forgotten.
Memories from others
John had many stories of international rugby and always seemed to be close to the action where it was on the field. If you ever needed a ticket for an international you always went to John somehow he would always get one. I remember one Wales v England international in Cardiff and John had a spare stand ticket, but wanted a few field tickets. Well he tells the boys to meet him in front of the stadium just before kick off. I don't know how he managed it but in place of one ticket he had two field tickets and a couple of quid for a drink! This shows John's ability for negotiations.

John, Deon and Glen went to watch an international match in Cardiff, first stop always the indoor market for their snacks, then on to the important issues for the day a bevy or two(maybe just a few more to relax) and the match. On this occasion John somehow split his trousers now it was either take time out and go shopping(definitely a no no on an international day ) or find a solution, so John placed his welsh scarf down the crouch of his trousers and continued his day. What a sight but nothing came between him and his rugby!
